01/04/2021: Update Regarding Paycheck Protection Program
Congress passed and the President signed an economic stimulus package that includes $284.6 billion in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding for loans to small businesses. The goal of the program is to help smaller businesses that have been impacted by COVID-related closures and restrictions.
Specific provisions within the legislation include:
- Borrowers who previously received a PPP loan may be eligible for a second loan
- A one-page simplified forgiveness process for PPP loans under $150,000
- Repeal of a CARES Act provision that required PPP borrowers to deduct the amount of their EIDL advance from their PPP forgiveness amount
- Clarification of tax treatment of PPP expenses
Mars Bank will participate in this next round of PPP lending. The SBA will soon finalize guidance regarding the process and reopen the loan portal for submitting applications. At that time, we will begin accepting applications for approval and submission to the SBA.
We are currently reviewing the legislation and will update our website once the new guidance is in place. Please visit this page or our business assistance page to stay up-to-date.
